Bio
There's
one word that best describes his music... smooth. And there's
one word to describe the way it makes you feel... soothed.
In
case you haven't heard, Gregory Alan, the talented young singer,
songwriter, musician, and producer is poised to take his place
among the industry's brightest stars. The self-contained artist
blends pop, R&B, blues, and contemporary jazz flavors with
lyrical poetry in a soulful brew, his debut release, the full
length CD titled "Essential."
Born
in Arizona, an army brat, he's experienced life on both U.S. coasts,
as well as briefly in Japan and in Sweden. "I know that I
was meant to do this," he says, "no matter where life
leads me, I dream music."
The
emerging young artist takes songwriting very seriously, spending
a summer at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
"The challenge in songwriting," according to Gregory,
"is to capture a mood, thought, or emotion with only a few
minutes and using the most evocative words and music that you
can squeeze onto your palette. Like a painting that combines color
and texture, music is art for the ears and anything other than
the essential is waste."
Gregory
began recording original compositions while earning a degree in
mechanical engineering from North Carolina A&T State University.
In college, he played in a top 40 R&B band called "Premier"
and has been writing and recording since.
There
will always be an audience for a handsome young romantic.
In
case you haven't heard, listen closely, you just may find yourself
in the soothing sounds of Gregory Alan...
